Menswear Collection (Work in Progress) - Fall/Winter
This collection draws inspiration from Alvin Ailey, a groundbreaking African American choreographer whose work celebrated Black culture and spirituality. Ailey’s masterpiece Revelations (1960) channeled the memories of his Texas childhood and the expressive rituals of the Black church. I translated this spirit of movement into clothing by focusing on silhouette; studying the shapes dancers create and reflecting them in garment form, seams, and paneling. Personal memories of my mother and grandmother dressing for Sunday service, complete with hats and brooches, informed key details. Each piece becomes both a study of dance and a visual essay on Black cultural heritage.
